Why donate to WSPA?

WSPA works with First Nations communities in Canada to improve the welfare of companion animals

WSPA aims to promote the protection of animals, to prevent cruelty to animals, and to relieve animal suffering in every part of the world. Our donors make this work possible.

When you choose to donate to WSPA, you can be sure that we have the knowledge and skills required to use your donation where it will have the greatest impact for animals.

WSPA receives no government funding – without our generous donors, our programs, which provide a lifeline to so many desperate animals, would not exist.

We work globally for animal welfare

With 17 offices worldwide, and more than 1,000 member societies in 150 countries, WSPA is a truly international organization – WSPA focuses on areas where few, if any, measures exist to protect animals.

Our highly-trained field teams often go where other organizations can’t or won’t. Working with our member societies in communities in Canada and globally, we are able to bring about change for animals on a local level.

We have the skills and knowledge to make change happen

WSPA has been working for animal welfare for 25 years, and our origins go back more than 50 years. We are the world’s largest alliance of animal welfare societies, and the only animal welfare organization to have been awarded consultative status at the United Nations and the Council of Europe. We work with experts in animal-related fields all over the world.

We’ve already achieved so much for animals

After the earthquake in Haiti, WSPA vet Juan Carlos Murillo checks a dog in Port-au-Prince

Our campaigning and advocacy work has influenced decision makers on vital animal welfare issues, including the transport of farm animals, factory farming, whaling and bullfighting, and helped to introduce vital animal welfare legislation to protect animals such as companion animals.

We’ve also worked tirelessly to protect wildlife from cruelty, including orangutans, bonobos, bears and elephants. Our skilled disaster relief teams have stepped in to help millions of animals around the world affected by floods, droughts, tsunamis, tornados, earthquakes and wars, and have trained local communities how to protect their animals in future disasters. We also work with communities in Canada and globally to promote companion and working animal welfare, from Sri Lanka and Costa Rica to Zanzibar and Sierra Leone.

Your donation will make a difference

Star was recently rescued from life as a baited bear and is now enjoying life at a forested sanctuary.

It takes time and money to rescue animals from cruelty, change attitudes towards animal welfare and pass legislation to protect animals. By choosing to support WSPA, you can help achieve lasting change for animals around the world, and become a part of a growing global family of hundreds of thousands of compassionate animal lovers.

Giving monthly is the most cost-effective way of supporting WSPA, and you can feel good about providing our life-saving projects with a long-term, reliable source of funding. As a member of our Animal Rescue Team, you’ll receive a copy of WSPA News magazine twice a year, with information on how your gift is helping animals. You can cancel or change your monthly donation at any time.
