Simon Cowell recently pledged his support for WSPA's Universal Declaration for Animal Welfare campaign.
"Right now, there are no international laws to protect animals and the World Society for the Protection of Animals is working to change that. They are calling on governments across the world to embrace a common agreement called the Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare. This would recognise that animals can suffer and feel pain and need proper protection.
“The Universal Declaration will mean so much; it would help governments appreciate the important role that animals play in our lives and in the environment we live in, and so inspire better legislation to protect animals around the world. So please, go to www.makeanimalsmatter.ca and add your own message of support today."

Comedian Ricky Gervais also supports WSPA's UDAW campaign, saying:
"WSPA works with animal groups around the world to make sure animals are treated humanely and educate people who may not know animals feel pain and get stressed. They’re also part of a huge plan to get TEN million people to pledge their personal support for a Universal Declaration for Animal Welfare and I think that’s a brilliant plan - I say ‘yes’ to anything to do with stopping animal cruelty.”
He has also spoken out against the cruelty in bullfighting and backed the PROU campaign, which is calling on the Catalan Parliament to end the blood sport in Catalonia.

"I support WSPA because they are trying to end some of the most appalling acts of animal cruelty in the world." - Leona Lewis
Singer Leona Lewis pledged her support for WSPA's Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare with a campaign video and photoshoot.
She summed up her belief in the UDAW campaign: "One reason animals are so vulnerable to cruelty is because there is no universal agreement between nations that animals can suffer and feel pain... The campaign for a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare could be the beginning of the end for animal cruelty across the world."
"It's up to us to give these animals a voice, and put a stop to cruelty and neglect, right now."
You can also see a behind the scenes film of the charity video shoot and hear news about her new album, her career and lifestyle on the WSPA Canada YouTube channel.
