Société Protectrice des Animaux de L’Estrie (Eastern Townships Society for the Protection of Animals)
Founded in 1978, the Eastern Townships Society for the Protection of Animals is one of the largest animal protection organizations in the province of Quebec. Several thousand animals in need are brought to its shelter every year, many of whom find a loving family. Among other efforts to improve the lives of animals on its territory, the Eastern Townships SPA visits over 8,000 children every year through its school program, pushes to end the use of wild animals in circuses, and enforces three levels of jurisdiction : municipal bylaws, the provincial P-42 Act and the Canadian Criminal Code.
