Dogs enjoy cooling off in the fountain at Woofstock

Thousands of dog-lovers descended on Toronto’s Woofstock at the weekend for two days of canine fun, including stalls, shows and contests.

Front Street between Yonge and Jarvis was closed to traffic, making room for an endless stream of dogs and their owners to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the largest festival for dogs in North America.

This year, WSPA offered visitors the chance to have a free photo taken with their dog, courtesy of BMO WSPA MasterCard. Our photographer Jo-Anne McArthur captured some great shots over the weekend, and the line-ups at the WSPA booth were a testament to her skill with the lens. In total, six hundred proud dog owners went home with a portrait of their pooch.

Stellar supporters

Dogs of all shapes and sizes enjoyed the festivities at Woofstock

Hundreds of people also added their names to WSPA’s Make Animals Matter petition. WSPA is collecting signatures to advance a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare, a declaration of our duty to respect animals and their welfare needs.

WSPA is fighting to have the UDAW adopted by the United Nations, which would mean the advancement of animal welfare issues on a global scale. To find out more and sign the petition, visit www.makeanimalsmatter.ca.

WSPA would also like to thank Woofstock for donating our booth, and our generous supporters who collectively raised more than $500 for animal welfare.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit WSPA. Look out for us again next year!
