The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) is an international organization dedicated to reducing the unnecessary suffering of animals by improving animal welfare. Our vision is a world where animals matter and animal cruelty ends. The Canadian office is located in Toronto and is one of 15 WSPA offices located around the world.
Reporting to the Online Communications Manager, the Online Marketing Intern will enthusiastically provide support for our web properties and digital projects. It’s a chance for you to enjoy a unique and rewarding experience while you learn heaps about the industry and make a real impact on animals’ lives through your work.
Responsibilities
The Online Marketing Intern will support the Canadian digital team in areas such as marketing, research, fundraising, advocacy and online publishing. Here are some examples of the sort of work we’d envisage you assisting with:
Monitoring, updating and creating content for WSPA Canada's websites
Increasing traffic to the sites through online marketing initiatives
Developing and executing online promotions and campaigns
Optimizing images and creating and editing video content
Analyzing web statistics and contributing to overall digital strategy
Building and empowering a network of digital volunteers
Social media activity and blogger outreach
General administrative duties
Required skills, training and attributes
Online marketing all-rounder with good interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication and design skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Some content management and website housekeeping experience
Working knowledge of web authoring, development and publishing tools (mainly Adobe CS3 and content management systems)
Flexible and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies
Keen attention to detail
A genuine passion for new media / social media
Sensitive to social and cultural issues
