Workplace giving – because animals matter

Work for the animals

Workplace giving is an easy way to help animals in need and promote WSPA as your favorite animal protection organization! Setting up a workplace giving program is easy. Just ask your employer to add the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) as a charitable organization that can be supported through existing employee giving programs.  You and your coworkers can choose to give monthly through a simple payroll deduction, or to give a specified amount periodically throughout the year. If your workplace already has a matching gift program, let your employer know everytime you give a gift to WSPA so they can match it. Consider asking your employer to arrange donations to WSPA through a United Way campaign.

It can also be as simple as putting an ad on your company bulletin board, intranet or in your newsletter during World Animal Week (October 4-10 every year). Please help us fundraise so that the WSPA Disaster Management team can assist during a natural disaster, or WSPA can carry out other animal protection programs throughout the year. See a list of WSPA's programs.

A workplace giving campaign is a terrific way to promote animal welfare while letting your coworkers and employer know you are committed to ending animal cruelty and how their support will really make a difference.

Do you have a passion for animals? Are you committed to protecting the welfare of animals all around the world? If you answered yes, then consider becoming a a Workplace Giving Campaign Coordinator. If you are highly motivated, have experience working with people and have the ability to engage others in a worthy cause then this is the perfect role for you! As a leader and an animal welfare advocate you can work with your coworkers and WSPA Canada to create awareness, raise funds and recruit new supporters.

Here are some ideas for getting workplace giving started:

Meet with your CEO or Human Resources department to request permission to launch a WSPA campaign, and get your CEO to sign a letter (or email) to all staff to launch the campaign.

  • Hold a special staff meeting or lunch'n'learn session to share information about WSPA. You could show WSPA's most recent accomplishments through video and other materials. Consider encouraging your co-workers to participate in a WSPA action, like signing a petition or writing a letter to their MP.
  • Approach your company's charity committee for a corporate gift on behalf of WSPA Canada.
  • Hold a fun fundraising event (or ask your social committee to organize an event) at your workplace or offsite, like a "wear jeans day", bake sale, or bowl-a-thon. Visit www.reallywildevents.ca for a simple way to organize your event right now.
  • Or work with WSPA staff to develop a campaign or a special event that is just right for your company and coworkers!

WSPA is a registered charity, number 12971 9076 RR0001, in Canada and will provide income tax receipts for donations of $20 or more. For more information on WSPA's workplace giving program, email: tom@wspa.ca
