Hi,

This month, we're urging you to take action and ask McDonald's Canada to commit to using cage-free eggs as well as join our humane chain to help end the cruelty of live animal export. You can also read about 3 more bears rescued in Pakistan and catch up on last year's successes by downloading our 2010 Global Review.

Ask McDonald's® Canada to take our Million Egg Challenge

pretty brown free-run hen

You can help McDonald's® become a good egg by asking them to commit to serving at least 1 million cage-free eggs this year.

McDonald's® is the largest purchaser of shell eggs in the Canadian food service industry and we need your help to show them that Canadians care about the treatment of our farm animals. Support WSPA's Million Egg Challenge and do your part to help end the suffering of thousands of egg-laying hens.

Send a letter to McDonald's® Canada President, Mr. John Betts urging the world's biggest fast food chain to make the biggest difference for animal welfare.

New rescues and new hope for three more bears

Last month in Pakistan WSPA partner, the Bioresource Research Centre (BRC), rescued three more bears from the cruel blood sport of bear baiting and brought them to Balkasar sanctuary.

Azad, Sawan and Nita spent years being forced to fight at cruel bear baiting events, but now they can look forward to peaceful times in the sanctuary.

Once these rescued bears got to the sanctuary, they were given a full medical exam. The rings that pierced their sensitive muzzles were carefully removed, the leashes that had been wound tightly around their necks were cut away and any wounds were treated. Now in quarantine, they will soon join the other rescued bears at Balkasar.

Only a few days left to join the WSPA global humane chain

Leysa from BC uploaded her photo to the Humane Chain, to stop cruel animal exportsAs you may know, Animals Australia recently captured some shocking footage exposing the horrific ways Australian Cattle are being slaughtered in Indonesia. If you watch it, please be warned, the video contains graphic material.

Public outcry from this footage has been unprecedented and thousands of WSPA Canada supporters have already written to Australia's Minister of Agriculture, requesting an end to the cruel live animal export trade. People from around the world have inundated WSPA with emails and calls, asking what else they can do to help.

In response, WSPA has created an effective way you can help spread the word and stop live animal export!

Simply upload a photo like this one, with your arms outstretched to join hands with other WSPA supporters around the world who are opposed to this cruel practice. All the photos will be linked together to form a huge chain, they'll then be counted, and the most iconic photos will be made into a visual petition. This petition will be presented to the Australian Government in just a few weeks, so please help millions of animals—take this urgent action today.

With your help we have taken some incredible steps forward for animals. The ban on bullfighting in Catalonia, the efforts of our disaster teams working in the aftermath of the Haitian earthquake, our mission to stop the cruel culling of dogs in Bali and so many other achievements simply would not have been possible without your valued support.

The Global Review is a chance to look back at the past year and reflect on all the important work you have helped WSPA do around the world. We hope you will take a moment to read through it.

Thank you so much for everything you do to help us protect animals from pain and suffering.
